Motor vehicle accident assessor for cars / cars

Did you have an accident through no fault of your own?

After an accident that is not your own fault, you have the right to appoint a motor vehicle expert of your choice to assert your claims against the opposing insurance company. This also applies if the opposing insurance company wants to hire your own expert. Find an expert you trust. This is the only way you can be sure that the damage to your car or motorcycle will be assessed objectively and neutrally.

The opposing insurance company is obliged to cover the costs for the expert opinion or the vehicle expert from a damage amount of approx. 750 euros. If the costs are lower or the amount of damage is difficult for you to estimate, please feel free to call me. A few photos (e.g. via WhatsApp) usually help for an initial assessment.

I will always advise you free of charge after an accident and let you know whether it makes sense to draw up an expert opinion and who will bear the costs.

Accident - Why do I need an expert?

An accident assessor takes a close look at your vehicle after an accident and determines the amount of the repair costs incurred by drawing up an expert opinion. This serves as the basis for reimbursement of the repair costs by the opposing insurance company. The expert opinion also serves to secure evidence for any disputes that may arise about a lawyer or even in court.

Should the repair no longer appear sensible due to the amount of damage, the expert will determine the replacement value of an equivalent vehicle and determine the residual value of your vehicle involved in the accident. Furthermore, the expert determines an impairment of your car. In addition, the expert determines the loss of use for you.

Is a cost estimate from a workshop sufficient after an accident?

After an accident, a cost estimate from a workshop for damage over 750 euros with insurance companies is often not valid. The cost estimate from a workshop is also binding on the insurance company. If it turns out during the repair that other components are defective that were not visible from the outside (without dismantling work), the insurance is not obliged to cover these costs. It is different with an expert. He can expand his report at any time and the insurance company is obliged to cover the costs.

In addition, a workshop cannot, for example, determine any depreciation or loss of use. This is the sole responsibility of a motor vehicle expert.

In the event of a legal proceeding, you will most likely get into trouble without the self-appointed "free and independent expert" who has secured the evidence for you in the form of an expert opinion.

Depreciation? You can only get this from an expert!

If you want to sell your vehicle at some point after an accident damage and repairs have been carried out, you often no longer get the price on the market that you would get without the previous damage. So your vehicle has a reduced value. You can claim this financial disadvantage from the insurance company. However, the so-called depreciation in value is only reimbursed by the motor vehicle liability insurance if it has been determined by a motor vehicle expert in an accident report!

Accident expert for comprehensive damage

In the case of a comprehensive insurance, the insurance company is "authorized to issue instructions". This means that the insurance company is entitled to commission its own expert. As a rule, the insurance company itself bears the costs of preparing the expert opinion. If you do not agree to the damage assessment, the insured person has the option to initiate a so-called "expert procedure". In these procedures, each party engages its own selected expert.
